The Story of Callie and Mia, "the Iowa Girls" ![]() An animal control officer in Iowa contacted us concerning three Siamese and a Calico who had been abandoned when the family moved, left to fend for themselves in an empty home. She asked if we would consider taking them and finding them a home. Of course, we said we would. Prior to their arrival, the officer was able to place two Seal Point male Siamese in the same home. We had taken the two "Iowa Girls" to our orphanage after receiving them. The Siamese had begun to mingle with the other kitties, but the Calico girl remained in her cage, by her choice, still very shy.......
We took them with us to our mobile adoption this weekend. A young man, along with his sister and mother, were looking at kittens. The young man wanted a kitty of his own and mom and sister were trying to help him choose. He then spotted the Siamese girl. He said, "I think I like her. What's her story?" So I told him how they had been abandoned and how we had ended up with them. I then asked him if he would consider TWO!!! I said the Calico is her sister and/or companion and was still very shy. I told him I would make a deal on the adoption fee, if he would consider keeping them together. He thought about it. Held them both. And there was an obvious connection. He said he couldn't bear to think of them being separated and that he would take them BOTH!!!!! The mother was holding the Siamese, and calling herself "grandma" to her. The man said "It looks like my mom might try to steal my cat!!" We feel we made a wonderful choice for these girls!!! We were very excited, to say the least!!!! |
