Lexi and Gina Update

GinaLexi
Their Royal Highnesses Gina and Lexi are settling in. Gina is quite scared and has taken up residence on my pillow. She is eating a little bit and has found the litter box, so she will be fine. She is lovely! Petite paws and elegant legs, although I think she's a bit weak. That's probably from the cortisone; it causes muscle weakness but will pass with time. Her world is limited to my bedroom and bathroom right now. I have actually scratched her neck a couple of times but she won't let me touch her back yet. My son has talked to her but hasn't tried to touch her yet. We're letting her take the lead and I can tell she is much more relaxed.

Now for Lexi. Lexi decided sometime on Sunday morning that she'd won the lottery. I have never seen such a happy cat! She comes when we call her, sits beside us on the couch, and purrs. When we first got home on Saturday evening I couldn't touch her either without consequences, and my hands have the scratches to prove it! Ouch! Now, I think we could almost swing her around by her tail and she wouldn't be upset! She's a gem! She has the run of the kitchen and living room, including the prime cat real estate of the couch in front of the south-facing picture window. She jumped on the piano with hilarious results: I heard a "chord" and then the sound of a cat hitting the floor and running. I closed the lid over the keys but I don't think she'll go back up there for awhile.

When I brought my son home from his Dad's last evening, Lexi was sitting on the back of the couch and we could see her through the picture window as we drove up. My son said, "Oh, she's BEAUTIFUL!" He said that several times through the evening about both of them. They are truly gorgeous animals and I stare at them, thinking how lucky we are to have them in our home. I hope over time that we can get the two princesses to like each other. They are truly royalty! Lexi slept on my son's bed last night and Gina was with me. My son vetoed calling Gina "Xena the Warrior Princess." And now I understand; it really doesn't fit her - she's very shy and gentle and will be a wonderful pet.

Thanks for all you do. They are very healthy (Gina is recovering, but I can see she's had excellent care).

Patty
